I’ve just bought a Camelbak LOBO - it’s my third or fourth in a row as they’ve been comfortable and long-lasting, with enough space for things I need to carry. It also holds 2 litres of water which is really useful living in a hot country.

But Camelbak has tinkered. Now, I can’t fill it properly, or drink from it properly, and it’s uncomfortable after about 30 mins.

It’s effectively a garage ornament.

So what else do people use? I’ve looked at USWE and these look to be good things, albeit pricey. Anything else worth looking at? It’s for XC/trail riding, often out for a couple of hours at a time, can be fairly remote so need space to carry stuff - tools, tubes, pump, food, etc.

Osprey. I swear by them! I’ve had my current one for around 10 years, it’s still going strong. I managed to snap some of the buckled whilst skiing with it - due to the cold temperatures I think - but osprey sent me some new ones free of charge which was excellent service.

I had a USWE one for running. It was very good but as a bigger chap it wasn't overly flattering on the chest area....

I ended up buying a inov8 adventure lite bag. It's now my default go to bag for most things.I love it.

Another vote for Osprey here. I have the Raptor 14 but having just looked at the Lobo, the Raptor is quite a bit bigger so maybe something like the Siskin 8?

Evoc are also really good. I have the FR Supertrail Bolivia but it's way bigger than the Lobo so something like the CC 10l maybe?

I hate packs since moving back to bottles but my current Intense doesn’t have bottle mounts so I’ve had to go back to a pack. Usually I’d use an old EvoC pack but it’s ancient and half the zips are dead so I bought a DaKine one and it’s been really good so far. It sits off my back so I DJ g get too hot and even the straps are designed to get air through them (not that I’ve noticed it). The bladder is wide rather than long and tall so the weight sits lower.

It’ll hold up to three litres of water, pump, tube etc.

Thanks all - Osprey seem to have good coverage over here, so I'll start with those.

Anyone want to buy a LOBO? One owner, very light use, freshly disinfected, great price...

+1 for Osprey, great gear. Thoughtful design and good quality, I have a Raptor 14 and a Savu hip pack.

I've got a Camelbak for longer rides, an Evoc for shorter rides (only room for bladder, pump, multitool and keys) and another Evoc for when I'm taking my camera gear. The Evocs seem better built, will likely buy another, probably a Stage 12 for longer rides.

I have one of these:

Very cheap, I find it comfortable and have both done Sportives and half marathon runs wearing it.
