Hi all,

Looking for some advice as I'm looking to invest in a 1x hardtail. Done a temporary swap for my winter roadie in exchange for a BTwin 520 MTB and decided I now need my own... Trying my best not to turn this into an expensive exercise, and really just want something to potter about off road, i.e. some light(ish) XC, paths and trails. Roadie will ultimately see more use, but I fancy an alternative option.. and, well, it's an excuse for another bike.

Looking for a 1x (I think), hydraulic discs, 27.5 or 29.. already eyed up the Vitus Nucleus but if there's something similar - happy to consider last year's models etc with a good discount in a Large... Am I missing anything I should be looking at? Second hand would have been an option but not in the current climate...

Thanks in advance

I'm biased as I have a couple but Cube make a good ally hardtail frame and are always well specced in componentary terms for their price points.

Right that looks bang on what I'm looking for. Halfords with BC discount then? Or any other alternatives where I can get it <£585

Hang fire it's already discounted so maybe I can't use the additional 10%...

I've used my BC discount at Halfords on bikes that have been discounted by voucher codes, half price smart trainers etc, never been declined. But then I suppose it depends on what member of staff serves you and you could be unlucky.

Another thing to look into is if you have a employer scheme where you can buy vouchers from certain shops at discounted rates. I always used to get an extra 10% off on top of the BC discount at Halfords when I worked for my last company.

Obviously also had to spend the day buying MTB specific helmet, shorts, shoes etc etc etc. And had a call from wiggle to say they are so busy that it would be 3 weeks if I wanted it built! Taking it unbuilt for delivery early next week..
