Saddle won't tilt down?
Discussion
Ok, I know saddles should usually be flat, but I'd like to try a few degrees down. Bike is a Felt MTB I'm setting up, I've had the setback seatpost single bolt mech apart and cleaned, but the most available tilt is flat. Saddle is set nearly full forward on the rails if that matters. I could start filing stuff, I suppose. It's a fun bike I'm still getting used to, and I mostly just potter around locally. Thanks for any suggestions.
You could try turning the clamping parts through 180 degrees and see whether they have more clearance to allow the tilt you are looking for (perhaps doubtful but wouldn't take much to try). Other than that, you're going to have to file out the holes in the clamp if more range is really needed. Could be easier to try a different seat post....
Appreciate that, I've had the clamp bit apart, there is no extra clearance one way or the other. I can rotate the whole seatpost 180 and see what happens. I'll try the seatpost from my other bike, it will involve the venerable coke-can shim bodge, as recommended in "Zen and the Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance", I seem to remember. (Of course, you young whipper snappers....) Thanks for the reply, perhaps I should in just invoke Rule 5.
