Felt 6 Series - old bike needing some love and attention
Discussion
Morning everyone,
Dug my old, dusty, and rarely used Felt 6 Series from the back of the garage and need to get it back on the road.
Any advice on where I should start without breaking the bank?
I believe it has 26" wheels according to https://www.thebikelist.co.uk/felt/six-95
Should I be concerned over the shocks giving out after so long sitting idle? Anything I should / can do to safeguard against any failures?
I think I have some graphite chain lube somewhere in the garage for the chain and sprockets.
EDIT: I should say, this would be mostly road or light trail riding. No 'mountains' involved. Guess I'm looking for a lower profile or less aggressive tire?

Ok so I gave the bike a good clean. Checked the tires and pumped them up. Not sign of perishing but not willing to risk it. Gave the chain a good dose of teflon lube and ran it through all the gears no issues. Chain is a bit rusty though.
Seat height even at lowest is way too high to feel comfortable though so might have to look at a new seat post maybe.

Not much action on your post yet, I see. Anyway, I read that it's a good idea to turn the bike upside down for a while, overnight maybe, to lubricate the seals in the shocks. Petty cheap, anyway. My other mtb got schwalbe land cruiser tyres, 1.75 inch, semi slick, puncture resistant and cheap. Then again, it only ever got to tackle urban speed bumps and bumpy country roads. Let us know how you are getting on.
Well I went for a quick 6km run on the bike yesterday after leaving it upside down over night. Checked tire pressures and seems they're ok. Everything seemed to work ok apart from my legs and my sense of balance!. Seems that riding a motorbike doesn't keep the same level of skills honed as one would expect.
