Is anyone else starting to overcome their inner resistance and accept these things a bit more?

I can't stand the ruddy things but I'm starting to see the light (partly because I don't have a choice with the lockdown). I can do a threshold effort without potholes, junctions, bad drivers etc. I would need to find a 3-6 mile stretch of perfect road to do this outdoors.

How are we all coping without the outdoors?

The Turbo and, more frequently, rollers are fundamental parts of my “training “. You can do so much more with a smart trainer than you can on the road safely in terms of intensity efforts and rollers are just fun.

I use an indoor training all year round and have done last 18 months, so fortunately already embraced which helps, mainly as time doesn't always allow an outdoor ride, having a smart trainer helps I think as replicates hills and stuff which makes it more interesting.

Currently doing the Fulgaz Tour of Europe a two week staged race. as a change to the normal just having a ride Fulgaz rides I do.

Stage 3 be done this morning, and looking forward to it, stick some good tunes on and off I go.

I look forward to an indoor ride, rode in Ethiopia last week and today I'll be riding in Mallorca for example, Virtually of course......

Interesting.

Can the experience indoor riders give us virtual training virgins an idea of the equipment/virtual rides/prices etc for this setup.

I usually do spinning 3/4 times a week at the gym. My thigh muscles are fading away before my eyes at the moment.

Thanks pics would be good as well.

As I've just gone from standard turbo to smart turbo there are a few hings you need to consider:

- Where it's going to be set-up (space/noise)
- Smart or non-smart turbo
- Use your bike or get a staic bike
- Which software you want to run e.g. Zwift, Trainer Road, Tacx etc
- Your broadband strength
- How to broadcast to a screen
- Air flow and sweet

I went:

- My road bike
- Tacx Neo 2
- Zwift
- Good broadband circa 350Mb but can buffer
- I run Zwift on a Samsung S10 and screenview via mirrorlink to a 32" Samsung Smart TV.
- Air is OK as it's in the garage and I can open a window for airflow
- You sweet like mad in an intense hour

Hope that helps. smile

I use a Wattbike with FulGaz. It's been an amazing combo for me I am just doing riding for fitness not events and am a mountain biker, but don't always have time to get out, so this ensures I can keep fit and can do a ride pre-work or weekends, today for instance done 21miles and 2600ft of climbing decent pace.

I went for the Wattbike as it's easier as didn't have bike for a turbo, links to the Apple TV and is just ready to go, Fulgaz I think is about £90 a year, fan and sweat mat mandatory.

The challenge at the moment may be getting hold of smart trainers as I suspect demand is high, Wattbike have a lead time normally too.

Still on my trusty kinetic RR, always loved the feel of it, especially with the bigger flywheel. However, thinking of either a Wattbike Atom or Kickr. I’m put off by the reports of Kickr failures, have they actually sorted it as I hate unreliable kit.

Wattbike appeals because the family can use it.
