I have a 2019 Cube reaction 500 pro with 29 inch wheels and a thru axle. Love the thing, absolute pride and joy, unfortunately my kids trailer hitch won;t go on.

Any idea where i could get some to make it work? or a bodge to attach it without damaging my lovely expensive electric bike?

Any help gratefully received

I second a Robert Axle..er...axle - I just had one turn up this week for my dog trailer. Seems very well engineered and fitted my MTB perfectly.

Got mine from SJS cycles, who seemed to have a good range of them available, just make sure you get one of the right length & thread pitch - I never knew bike axles were so complicated until I was ordering mine!

How did you do it. Just quote your bike and model or did yours have to be measured?

Good addition, I got mine through SJS Cycles rather than direct.

For specs, I just reviewed the spec relevant to my frame and axle on the net and double checked, threadpitch etc.

Could I asked a couple of favours.

How much did the axel cost, just rough amount.

Where would I find the specs for the rear axel size and pitch of thread on a 2019 Cube reaction hybrid Pro. I have googled it and can find the diameter and length of the front axle but not on on the rear. Is there a specific site.

Any pointers on where to look or ask would be gratefully received.

I was hoping to originally just Google it, find a new axel and buy. Then thought speak to company or shop and say what my bike is and Bosch they sort it. Bit naïve!

Thanks

I used the Axle Finder on the Robert Axle website ( Axle Finder), which seemed very good and proved accurate for my Trek (out of paranoia I did Google the specs of my bike to make sure their website was accurate, but all was good for my bike). Think mine was around £55 from SJS.

EDIT: Just to add, I've done a quick Google on your bike, and are you sure it has a thru axle rather than a skewer, as the specs on the Cube site seem to suggest it is using a standard Shimano QR skewer? If it is just a skewer, and the problem is that the skewer is too short when your trailer bracket is in place, then you should just be able to get a longer QR skewer

Thank you very much.

To I don't know the difference between a axel and a skewer, assembling the bike when I got it seems like the part is like all the videos where they replace the axel for a Roberts axel.

I will have a look and Google.

No problem.

A good indication if it is a QR skewer is iff you have to screw a cap onto it on the opposite side of the axle - if it just screws into a thread in the frame, then it should be a thru axle. If you post a photo of it then I'm sure someone here will be able to help.

Fantastic, I changed the brake pads last night and remembered the front as having the screw in axel and found the rear is QR. I will see if I can find something for a QR trailer attachment.

Thanks
