I've been using my bike to cycle to work for the past month after it just being stood in my garage the best part of a year
I've noticed the past few days a fast clicking from the rear gears but only when peddling, if I peddle fast it speeds up, peddle slow it slows down

Problem is further than knowing it's coming from the back I have no idea what the cause is or if there's some maintenance I should be doing but clearly am not currently

Thanks for any help folks!!

Hmm. Rear derailleur out of alignment? Could be as simple as a cable tension adjustment.

Almost certainly a bit of cable stretch.

Shift into the middle gear at the back.

Look for where the cable goes into the rear mech - where it joins it goes through a shroud that is ridged so you can twist it.

With it in the middle gear and the rear wheel off the floor, pedal the bike and twist this shrout - probably anti-clockwise as it should be screwed all the way in. This will micro-adjust the cable tension. Stop when the clicking stops.

Yep sounds like a rear mech set up re-tune needed.
watch this to get the idea.

Thanks everyone for the replies! I've adjusted it this morning and the clocking has stopped

Think I'm going to book the bike in for a service and purchase a few care products, I've been recommended to buy some of the muc-off stuff, mainly the bike cleaner and chain lube

Further to the advice above (which I agree with) - when you adjust the barrel on the derailleur do it by a small amount at a time. Half turns, or even quarter turns, test and see if it has got better or worse. Don't make huge adjustments or it will end up worse.
