I've been lusting after a Boardman Urb 8.9 but I've decided to slash the budget instead of letting it creep as is usually the case.

On the current shortlist are:

Cannondale Quick 3 2020
Specialized Sirrus x 2.0 2020
Pinnacle Lithium 4 2020

Would love to hear your opinions on the above please, and are there others I should be looking at? The bike will be bought with interest free credit over 12 months so a second hand purchases are probably out of the question, unless there is an outlet which sells refurbed used bikes anyone can point me to?

Non-sus is definitely a preference in order to keep weight down.

A quick edit to add others:

Wilier 503X Race XT
Ridgeback Flight 03 2017
Orbea Carpe 30 2020

All nice bikes.

I wouldn’t be too worried about the weight - remember that the bike is a small proportion of the total system (bike+bottles+rider) weight.

As long as it has hydraulic brakes, decent-rolling tyres, a comfortable saddle and nicely adjusted gears I reckon you’ll have a blast on just about anything at that price point!

For around that budget, this is a killer deal.

I know its an MTB, but the fork has remote lockout.

Currently £650.

I bought one for the Mrs, and ended up buying one for myself as I was impressed.

After reading a few comments here and there it seems some are a little too rigid being full aluminium frame and fork, but I've found one (Pinnacle Neon 4 2020) which has carbon forks designed to flex enough to make the ride a bit more comfortable.

Apart from that, yep, plenty to choose from at sub-£600.
