Laka,

I insure my Giant with them new it’s about £4.5k, I bought it second hand for £2k and after a phone call to them I insured it for the purchase price 2nd hand.

I pay around £12 a month as low as £8 once and as high as £14 once. Although it varies depending on the level of claims and recoveries each month. I’ve never made a claim myself but I know someone who has and it was relatively painless.

I put mine on the house insurance policy. £120 extra for the year. One £5.5k bike one £4.5k one £2k and a few at £500 each.

The dedicated policies are way too expensive IMHO

My household insurance covers my bikes. I have to ensure that the policy limits are set to cover the value when away from home, and that the cover for outbuildings contents is sufficient for when they are stored at home.

I and my bikes are covered for public liability and accidental damage, plus fire theft flood etc. as long as I'm not racing as a pro (ha ha).

All policies vary. A LOT of the buy off the screen policies have minimal cover in this area, but if you look into policies sold direct or via a broker, you can the proper cover at reasonable costs.

I am with NFU Mutual, but also look at Hiscox, M&S, Saga (!), Chubb etc.

Bikmo
They've been very good for (at taking payments), always been easy to get hold of and good at answering questions very simply.

I now use Bikmo but for a £2500 bike it may be cheaper on your house insurance...

Bikmo (and other bespoke bike insurances) are more than just a theft policy - they cover crashes / accidental damage as well.

I've been with PedalCover for a couple of years. Basically it's an AXA home insurance policy combined with specific bikes cover at home and away. I pay c. £300 pa for home buildings + contents + bikes away up to £4k.

I had Yellow Jersey for a while. I claimed for event curtailment because of illness. They were ok, but took a bit of chasing and said a few times they couldn't progress until I sent them stuff which I had sent them already. But the paid fairly quickly.

Not sure how easy it would be to claim for £6K bike though.
