Hello PHers

My nice eMTB has been getting a bit of hammer these last few months, a and I could do with protecting the frame. There is genuine 3M tape available but my word it's pricey ( I dare say there's a reason).

Do I have to suck it up and but genuine 3M and spend about £100 or can anyone recommend a decent alternative?

Recommendations gratefully received.

How much do you need?

I've sourced it by the metre from here in the past:

Well, enough to do my bike (and possibly a few vulnerable bits on my motorbike.
That's a lot more reasonable than the prices I was seeing on Amazon.

Invisiframe?

the pre cut kits aren't cheap but they do blank sheets to make your own.

Some of the supposed genuine 3M stuff I’ve bought on eBay in the past was horrible, thick yellow stuff. I found the tape by Bike Tart really good but it looks like they don’t sell it anymore.

I’ve gone for the 3M 8671HS from the place recommended by Harpoon - got six metres of 50mm wide. Pricey but it’s 3M so the real thing. Who knows what you are getting from eBay?

Just off outside to thoroughly clean the bike now in preparation for putting the tape on.

I’ve been doing a lot of riding in quite awful mud and it’s really hammering the bike and paint eg on the crossbar where it gets rubbed. It’s a Haibike electric MTB in a lovely deep metallic blue and I need to look after it better.

My bike is now all helicopter-taped up now - thanks for the advice Harpoon.
It's good, thick stuff and seems to go on leaving what look like bubbles, but aren't. After a few days these disappear and it's pretty well invisible.

Depends how much you are covering.

I would just do odd little bits the brake cables etc rub, and maybe either side of the top tube where moddy short rub?
