I know - another light question

A recent convert to gravel bikes an ex road rider I know enjoy family trips and the occasional blast on my own along local two paths and canals.

I'm a fan of good design and minimalist low profile kit. I want to be seen in day light too. AS the head of the family peloton I need good illumination.

I considered the exposure lights range (https://exposurelights.com/?SID=lvvjuhaqg1foeqd4b77765js1h) but have been left pretty unimpressed by their customer service. I asked them for help in selecting the best from their range but my questions (through various means) have remained unanswered.

What would yup recommendation be?

My commute has 9 miles of unlit towpaths and a couple of miles of roads at either end, I've used the Ravemen PR1200 for 18 months and it's been perfect.

https://www.ravemen.com/

Beam pattern works like a car in that it can be dipped or main, switchable either form the light itself or from a wired remote button.

Battery has a countdown display on the unit showing hours left which is pretty accurate, it'll do 20+ on lowest settings down to 4 on highest. It throws out so much light I use medium settings with main beam on the towpaths dipped on the road and get around 8 hours between charges.

Great piece of equipment.

I can't comment on the customer service - but I've got an exposure Diablo and an Exposure Toro and they're bloody fantastic lights. The battery life on the Diablo isn't what it used to be (but it's 8 years old), the Toro sees me through the 14hrs of darkness at 24hr Timetrials in California, where being able to see is vital because there are no streetlights and the edge of the road isn't marked. I cannot fault the product at all. It even tells me exactly how long the battery is going to last so that I can switch modes if I need to extend it. I also love the 'flare' function on exposure lights. The added visibility of it flashing, without being plunged into darkness every other second.

Another nod towards Exposure. I’ve had to contact them on 2 occasions and have been very pleased. The products themselves are excellent. I have an old Strada that is over 10 years old, still going strong, works great, battery life is good. I also have a more recent MaxxD. This is 2400 lumens on full whack, it turns night into day ! These feature some clever gubbins that alter the lights output depending on speed, acceleration & I think angle. It’s great for night time MTB rides & it’ll do 4 hours on “mostly” high power. The mounting brackets are super sturdy too. I crashed & the MaxxD took quite a hit, something was rattling around in the case & it wouldn't go to full power, sent off, repaired & posted back for £17 !! No complaints.

I've got one of these (actually I've got two - I like the first one so much I bought a second as a spare)

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bicycle-Nestling-Recharge...

.... for the money it is absolutely fantastic. I go riding up on the moors at night and it is absolutely pitch black, and these things are superb and I've yet to see the battery meter drop off. A lot of my riding mates have got £300 Hope lights, £800 Lupine - stuff costing hundreds, and mine isn't markedly worse - it's not even 20% worse. They are all pretty impressed. I could buy an awful lot of those for the price of a single one of theirs.

Exposures customer service was incredible when mine broke. Ended up with a spare £300 light out of it.
