As per the title really, I'm changing from an estate to a 2 seat hard top sports car. It has a glass boot lid and pan roof so obviously won't take a standard rack so just wondering if anyone's used a sucker style mount? It would only ever be for 1 bike, MTB or road with front wheel inside the car.
How secure are they and how much stress do they put on the glass?

I used one on a c class with a glass roof, never had any issues but always had the fear it was going to fall off at some point :-/

I’ve driven to the alps and back a few times with a new Mustang using sea suckers to mount an enduro mountain bike on the roof without any problems.

I've been using the really basic Seersucker rack on my Cayman for five years and despite seeming really dodgy it has never let go on me (does get some weird looks though).

I sucker direct to the rear windows with a tie-down and foam block (to protect the boot lid) at the back.

Works fine with my Stumpy mostly because the handlebars are relatively wide. It's a lot less convincing with my road bike.
