Elan Valley MTB

Organising a summer Wales MTB trip... the guys I am going with are more interested in doing an all day XC epic on natural trails rather than laps of a trail centre so the Elan Valley looks like it might hit the spot. Anyone been and have experiences to share? Routes etc.
Also looking for accommodation in the area that will work for a Friday-Sunday stay. Might combine it with a visit to Nant Yr Arian if our legs are up to it
