The wheel on my carbon road bike has been cocked for a while, I've finally decided it needs fixing.

It's been off square in the frame for a while. It's bad enough that the tyre has rubbed through the lacquer on the few occasions where it's touched the side. I've owned the bike from new (a boardman from 2011) so I know it's not from a crash. Wheel isnt buckled and the dish looks ok to the naked eye, although not ruling that one out.

It seems like the dropouts are not aligned but I'm reluctant to get a file out just yet.

Might have to cede to the LBS for this one.

It's also possible that it's been like that from the factory and I didn't notice for the first 5 or 6 years, I'd like to think not.

Are you sure one of the quick release centering springs isn't on the quick release spindle the wrong way round causing the narrow end of the spring to be sat in the dropout.

Any chance of some pictures?

As above, check the springs are seated correctly on the QR.

Have a good look at the carbon to make sure there are no cracks etc?

Loosen the QR (assuming not thru axles) and see if the wheel seats better. Certainly something not quite right if it’s contacting the stay.

It should be possible to see it if it’s that far out without getting a bike shop involved.
