for anyone who uses it, this may or not be of interest / concern

https://haveyoursaycannockchase.org.uk/?fbclid=IwA...

hard going to find info of what the actual intentions are but so far from various discussions...

large areas fenced in for cattle - less off-piste trails
more Scientific areas created
a large number of Car parks closed - others improved / enlarged but Paid - all of Marquis Drive will be Pay as per Birches Valley
amongst the parts i've read of the above Docs, very little mentions MTB's, its all about Dog walkers, Horses, walkers
it looks like the objective is keeping everyone in areas to try and make it an 'experience' not a spur of the moment Countryside visit

Cheers thumbup

I'm assuming 'Follow the Dog' and 'Chase the Monkey' + SC. Will remain as they must be a massive draw for visitors anyway..

..but do you get the feeling that because cyclists haven't been mentioned so much that is one of the visitor groups that they want to contain the most ie: you stick to the designated trails in future and thats it.

Seems a lot od scaremongering really. Large anount of carparks closed and to be paid, the figure is 9%, that is neither?

I been going last 15 years, but there are issues, rubbish, cars dumped anywhere, verges eroded.

The cattle would bring in controls for fire issues in the summer as well. I don't see a problem, animals where there before so bringing back isn't unnatural and will be manged, and opens up debates, and may save the trees being cut down as that is the only real income.

The trouble with brining cattle back is the fencing that goes with it. In-official trails will be closed by the fencing plus it’s extremely ugly and not becoming of an open access area.
I have read that they are looking at electronic tags on the animals in conjunction with underground electrical fences which may be a solution.
