Couldn’t see any topic relating to this story so thought it’s worth posting

Hope I’m still riding at 82. It’s quite remarkable that he’s covered those miles , has kept records and is still riding 8k a year.

Saw this whilst I was at work he other day. Quite impressive!

I'd love to see the 1950s cyclometer!

Lovely story because he's survived on our increasingly busy roads. There is a BIG question however. How in heavens name has he managed all those miles without the oddball desire to do them in fancy dress? Where is the seemingly obligatory pink & yellow & other pretty pretty colours of skin-tight Lycra? Being a manly man yet with no wish to display his swellings & bulges & dismissive of silly fads & fashions I suspect he has no desire to be stared & laughed at.

There are 2 photos of the man.
In the first one, he's wearing the back in the day equivalent of lycra, including the shorts.
In the other, he's 82, t's winter and he's wearing a big coat.

Why did you post this utter drivel? Did Yelowjack or some other mamil type finger your missus or something? Your first part explains why so many cyclists wear luminous colours, I bet if they were wearing black you'd be upset that you can't see them...
