I have a 15 or so year old Scott racing elite (3L3? Possibly... It was £900 list when I got it.) that is sat gathering dust as I now have a Whyte 901. The frame's a bit tall and short and the hubs are a bit grumbly but it's perfectly serviceable. I'm sure it would sell on eBay, but can't imagine it'll fetch much.

OTOH I'm looking at cheap fat bikes (Calibre Dune is prime candidate) for playing in the winter gloop but they mostly come with cable brakes, so I'm wondering if the hydraulic Shimanos on the Scott are worth pilfering.

I have a similar bike - a Cube, but with loads of decent (at the time) upgrades, Hope Mono Minis, Marzocchi ETA Pros (I think?), Race face kit etc etc Posted a few years back on here about selling, but the suggestion was i'd get about £200 - so it now sits on the turbo trainer in the garage and comes out in the winter when the roads aren't great (usually a roadie).

Had an orange 5 26” gathering dust with a few knackered bearings,
Got new Bb, headset, few new cables and fresh tyres on it, new grips and pedals, bit of a refresh.

Now it’s the perfect bike for the other half and rides really well.

Not worth the £500 on eBay is get for it personally.

May only get used occasionally but it’s great and non precious.

She's got a 29" bike that suits her perfectly. I did shorten the stem for my 12-y-o but although he's tall the frame's too high so while he can ride it fine it doesn't have the standover height and at some point I'd like grandchildren! biggrin

Turbotrainer?? No, not me at all! I'd rather go out and get wet.

I'd be tempted to put BMX handlebars on it and use it locally but I live miles down a hilly lane.

And having had a look at it, eBay may not go so well as I had an accident with some expanding foam and focussed on cleaning the car up...
