Has anyone got or had one and what do you think of it?

As someone looking to get back into riding, I saw these in Go Outdoors the other day and they look to be great value for what they are, and the associated reviews seem pretty good. I’ll probably go for the cheapest one if I do go for it (two cubed), the rock shox forks over suntours etc make it quite appealing.

Thanks

They get great reviews and are probably the best value new bike. However, I wouldn't discount second hand from the likes of pink bike.

For example, 1500 quid will get you a transition patrol or sentinal, or other similar premium brands, which would be where I'd spend my hard earned.

Plenty of folks dropping lots of cash and then hardly riding the bike only to sell a year or two later.

Go to a bikepark any weekend.

There will be plenty Calibre owners there.
Glentress is full of em.

Seriously good value for money and appear very well built in the flesh.

I will say though, this week, my grandson was offered the choice of the Line 10 and the Merida big 7 500

He preferred the Merida but it was a looks thing. Very little to choose between them. Merida was much better finished, but the Line 10 came with a dropper fer christs sake.

Proper bargains

Mate picked up a brand new 2020 bossnut as he uses cycle to work, not bad for the money. However I picked up a 2017 norco range for the same money and it is much better specced with Rockshox lyric, rc3, gx groupset etc

I've had my Two Cubed since June.
Done 300-odd trouble free miles so far.
Great spec for the £329 I paid tbh.
Ride with guys who have Bossnuts and have had no issues doing way more miles than I do.

Thanks. Looks good.

How did you get the extra £70 off?

I've got a bossnut (first of the orange ones, with Deore 2x10) and as far as I'm concerned, it's awesome. The only things that put me off it was the fact there is nowhere near here where I could have a look and I'm a bit old school and wanted mounts for a bottle. Then Go Outdoors sent through a discount code for an extra 10% off, so that covered the cost of the dropper post.

First thing I noticed when it came was how it looked a lot better than the grand it cost. It looked a lot better put together than the similarly priced Voodoos in Halfords and looked as good as a few of the much more expensive bikes in local shops.

It's far more capable than I am, but the one thing that really let it down were the really bad WTB tyres that came on it (they have changed them now). The front one seemed to have no grip on anything that I've tried it on, the rear was slightly better, but not great. £40 for a Magic Mary on the front and a Continental Mountain King on the back. The dropper post that Go Outdoors sell as an add on for it isn't great, but it is cheap.

I saw a review for the new one and it looks lovely.

Thanks for your replies. A little bit of budget creep sees me looking at the Line 10 or Bossnut Evo. I need to decide how much my budget can creep and whether I want a full suspension bike.

Does anyone know if you can use Cyclescheme along with a Go Outdoors discount card?

Also with Christmas coming up I am kind of thinking of waiting to see if they have a sale...

Thanks again thumbup

To be honest, the Bossnut is probably overkill for me, but as I have a knackered knee, I thought it might remove the impact issue and it does help to some extent.

They have offers all the time, but I don't think I've seen better than 10% off the bikes, except when the new model has come out and the old one is reduced, so could be a good time to get a Bossnut Evo with the new ones on the way. Just had a quick look and it's £899, then if you get a 10% deal, it's just over £800 for a full suspension bike. Man maths.

Yeah, the man maths has been working overtime on this. I had seen the Bossnut Evo at £899 and thought it was a great price. The reviews for the bike are great.

There was a 15% code on recently plus you may be able to use cash back sites to get more off again.

As well as the bossnut they do the Line 29 HT too.

Thought I would share my new "to me" Calibre bike. It is a Gauntlet hardtail, and I am very very happy with it, coming from a Specialized Epic (currently in pieces awaiting a few upgrades), I was after a winter hardtail to fill the gap and something to build upon.

I am very happy with this bike, great spec for the money, 27.5 wheels/single crank up front/180 rotor upgrade - it's a lovely simple looking thing I think, and very comfortable for trails.

I really like what Calibre are doing with their range.
