I completed my first 100km ride on Wednesday afternoon which I was pretty pleased with. I usually do 40-65km rides and am fairly comfortable at that level. My longest ride previous to this was 80km which was a grind because I didn't bring enough food.

Anyway the ride went pretty well and I stayed fed and hydrated throughout. However, I've had some knee pain since. It seems to be easing off now. I'm wondering if this is just because it's the first time I've done this distance or whether I'm getting something else wrong.

I had thought my saddle could come up a bit. I did some stretching for about 10-15 minutes when I got back, but was that enough?

All advice welcome.

Get a proper bike fit done. If it’s still happening after that, it’s your body adjusting to the mileage.

Hi if its a pain under the patella then is generally because you have either the saddle to low or grinding not spinning or both.
I had my bike in bits to transport it down to lands end by the time i realised my saddle had slipped down a bit it was too late and my knee hurt.
All the bike fits in the world wouldn't have prevented me not tightening my stem clamp enough smile

Thanks guys. I’ll see if there’s somewhere locally that can do a decent bike fit. I’m suspecting saddle too low. I checked my seat post again and it has definitely slipped since my last ride.

Low saddle in the past had me feeling it rear thighs, before all this bike fitting, generally slight bend in leg bottom of pedal stroke not over extended,if using clipless pedals, has cleat moved?riding in cold wet uncovered knees?Hillier than usual or as mentioned, not keeping high enough cadence?
