Early disclaimer: I like riding but aren't massively into it, I can change a tyre and just about adjust brakes but that's it!

Am currently cycling most days to work (about 7 miles each way) and am prepping for a 60 mile charity bike ride at the end of the month. I've been commuting on a set of Geax Gato 26x1.9 (48-559) running on sun rim cr18 559x22.5 wheels. Haven't had any punctures and they give decent grip but probably not ideal for a mainly tarmac ride to work. I've worn the middle down to almost a slick over last few months!

My question is what size tyres should I go for that will make riding a little easier. Slightly confused by the tyre sizes that will fit! I'd like them to be fairly puncture resistant but they don't need to be massively skinny or slick (or expensive!). Recommendations welcome!

I used to use Schwalbe city jets in 26x1.95, roll well and comfy, even pumped up to their max 60psi smile

You can get tan wall ones now too which look pretty cool.
