So, who is excited for the upcoming World Champs?

I've got the week off and still can't believe the World Champs are finishing a mile from my house.

First batch of infrastructure is going up in town next week and it's starting to dawn on the residents just how much disruption there will be; having seen the volume of parking suspension signs being put up I'm starting to agree with.

Are we going to see a young gun win or a grizzly vet take the rainbow stripes? Either way, it has the potential to be an absolute classic.

I live in Harrogate. The "circuit" part basically encircles my house. Despite the disruption of having 9 days of road closures I'm quite excited. Hope the weather picks up a bit

I'm planning to watch the elite men's time trial at the top of Hackfall and the elite women's time trial somewhere just south of Ripon

Closures around the circuit were always going to be problematic but looking around town over the weekend it would appear that every street has parking suspensions on it!

I'm planning on basing myself at the Pump Room so I can watch them go past twice.

I was in Harrogate today. A huge temporary events centre is being constructed. They are expecting a quarter of a million visitors a day.

The "Fan Zone" being built on West Park. There is actually a massive show ground with all the required facilities but it's not in the centre of town so they are building this for the 9 days. There will be live music/DJ sets some evenings: https://www.strayfm.com/news/local-news/2950538/wo...

Going to Hawks at the weekend to see the men’s road race. Trying to persuade she who must be obeyed to walk so far up Buttertubs.

I’ll be watching on tv, should be great because it’s quite open. There are a few favourites in each category plus loads of wildcards.

Sort of. I quite like the road based stuff but it's all rather undermined for me because it takes place annually. For me, that's too often for a world championships.

It was good to see them out on the course. And the number of people at the end of our road was quite impressive. In general I think there is a good, positive attitude in town and people are mostly still getting into he spirit of it.

Still there was that one idiot hoping to cross the circuit in the car during the race yesterday! Somehow they thought an exception could be made for them to get to Leeds

Appalling weather hear in Harrogate today. Not sure if there are any options to delay races. If they go ahead it'll be very slippy and unpleasant out there

As you’re local can I just pick your brain please? My brother and I are going to spectate in Harrogate centre on Sunday and I’ve come up with two options for getting there from the other side of the Pennines.

Number one is park at my wife’s office in Leeds and get the train into Harrogate, or the better option is to drive to somewhere like Pannal or Burn Bridge and walk in (we’d rather not cycle in). I’d rather go for option two as my wife is expecting and it might be useful to be independent of public transport, but do you think we’d hit traffic and/or struggle to park? We’d look to arrive at about 11:00.

I've only lived here a year! Not sure on the parking in Pannal or Burn Bridge. There is parking available for £2 at the Yorkshire show ground. Road closures on Sunday start in Leeds at 4am so that may impact your ability to park where you propose in Leeds? Harrogate road closures start at 10:30am. Burn Bridge/Pannal is not impacted as the race is coming in from the north.

Thanks. My wife’s office is only just over the rover in Leeds so the closures wouldn’t be an issue, and I don’t fancy the show ground parking as it could take forever to get out...
