Morning all

I've recently got back onto my mountain bike to enjoy rides with the kids, forgot how much i used to enjoy it before the kids came along.
Since having them (now 6,5 & 1) I've hardly used the bike, its a GT Aggressor form circa 2010.

I've noticed when braking the front the wheel snatches to the right not enough to notice in feel but more visually, look like the pad only moves on one side so pushes the disc.

Before buying all new parts is there any particular part that would be causing this? or should disc, pad and caliper all be changed.

Brakes are Tektro Auriga Comp (hydraulic) its only the front, rear seems fine.

Thanks for any advice.

EDIT! Not sure how to change the title, ovs Disc not Dick!!

Dick, snatch, mildly pornographic!

Can be a number of things but I'd start with whether the wheel is true and whether there is enough tension on the spokes.

Just press your dick on the sidewall of the tyre to slow down.

Just try and avoid it flopping into the spokes.

Have you tried re-centring the calliper? It could just be that it has been knocked and is not centred or in line with the disc. Usually just two hex bolts to loosen off then hold the brake lever down to centre the calliper and re-tighten the bolts.

Sounds like one of the pistons is stuck. Likely if you've not ridden it for some time. Now, you might need a "third hand" to help on this one, but...

Wheel out.
Remove brake pads.
Large flat blade screwdriver to use as a lever to prevent the caliper that still moves from moving.
Get your assistant to squeeze the brake lever. Gently/steadily though.
If/when it moves, lever it back into place, and repeat until it moves freely and with it's 'twin'.
Take care not to squeeze the lever with nothing between the calipers , though - if either piston comes too far out you can end up introducing air and it'll need to be bled if that happens. (leave the lever in the caliper to stop the pistons over-extending)
Lever the pistons fully back into the caliper body, take care to wipe away any brake fluid that may be present, refit the pads and the wheel and give it a careful test to ensure correct function.

If in doubt, get a shop (or a mate who knows bikes) to have a look at it. Brakes, especially the front one, should be "just so" as when you need them, you really need them to work correctly.

Appreciate the help and the change of title!!
Was thinking that lack of use maybe the case.

Will have a look later with the instructions above!

yellowjack has you covered on the single sided brake issue, however that shouldn't be causing the wheel to pull to one side under braking as you alluded to in your first post; that sounds like a spoke tension issue, and if it is deflecting noticeably then it's certainly worth getting it looked at as a more serious failure might not be too far away, and could cause a very unpleasant crash.
