A mate is looking at a Specialized e bike and its making me think I should perhaps also look
I currently ride an Orange 5, love the bike to bits, but looking at the Orange e bike range they are a lot of money compared to other makes?
Which is the one to go for if you were looking to hop off an Orange 5 and go down the e bike route?
Typical riding is Swinley, BOW and FOD
Thanks in advance

I’ve just bought a Levo Comp and they’re selling currently with 10% off list.
I’ve also been promised a 700wh battery at £960 which is shop cost.
Having spent some weeks doing research and having taken one for a 25 mile spin last week it’s a great bike.
Expensive but still in the top 5 for 2019.

I don't think you can get much better value than the new Cube range, the 140 TM has great spec components with the latest Bosch Motor, Carbon front triangle frame and alloy rear all for under 5k or if you can live with a little less travel the 120 is under 4k.
Only thing that stopped me getting one was max rider weight of 95KG
Another bike worth a look id the new ebikes from Whyte also using the new bosch motor and 625wh power tube.
In the end I went and ordered a new Mondraker Crafty, little more expensive but looks the part.

I've watched a lot of his vlogs and there's some really good content https://youtu.be/CAmGBZt-5bQ
Just seen my bike mid-build and I'm picking it up tomorrow pm once the dropper post that was missing arrives!
I reckon I've owned the two best ebikes money can buy:
Stromer ST1 from Switzerland. 28mph (though only on private roads of course!). Prices have gone up sharply in past couple of years though. But a hell of a bike.
And just bought a Gocycle GX (as my Stromer was stolen ) and it's very impressive, smooth, fast enough at 20mph, easy to ride. Very striking and clever design. Designed by Ex McLaren designer apparently.
Both v pricey bikes but, for commutes versus any car sub 10k, they are worth the money.

Buy German, buy once. I have a Bergamont Trailster with nearly 2000 miles on it. Bosch motor is bulletproof and the high sprocket over the drive stops chain drop, never had one. I have pals with 7k Specialised bikes with the Levo IIRC and grudgingly prefer the delivery of the drive of my bike and have numerous chain drops over similar mileage. Whilst the Bosch motor does drag like engine braking it has never affected my rides, in fact you can use it as such. My supplier has never had a motor failure that he cannot fix and the projected 4500 cycles is ultra conservative. I'm not one for brand loyalty but my next bike will definitely be a Bergamont. Probably the one after that too!
I’ve had a Levo Comp for a while no with no issues other than the forks which could have happened on any bike. I like the Spesh motor as there is no drag once assistance hits the limit so it rides more like a regular bike, particularly in Eco mode. No issues with dropping the chain and I removed the chain guide on mine to accommodate at 36T chainring.
I don’t use it but the Blevo app opens up many options for how the power is delivered, including linking it to your heart rate which is pretty clever IMHO.
The EMTB forums are good starting point to see what’s out there.
