I'm size 11 normally, I bought some Shimano road shoes, EU45 which should be size 11, but some say size 10.5 so a it confused which EU size to get? They don't fit me..

Were they too big or small? Measure your feet and see where it comes on the table? Click on "adaptive size spec" button here:

https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/product/apparel-acc...

My feet are just under 27.5cm and I recently bought some XC9s in 44 and they fit very well, although the box did read "44 / 27.8" whereas the chart says 44 = 27.5. 43 would definitely have been too small, 43.5 might have been a closer fit but half sizes are hard to find at a competitive price, and in fact they may have been a bit tight.

Where do you live? 30 miles away in the Highlands, I could believe.

I see you live in STAFFORD, so it’s utter crap that the nearest shop is 30 miles away you just wanted to buy cheap online. The advice stands. Buy some shoes from a shop. Support a local business.

Ok thats weird advice, and reads as rather passive aggressive.

Where the OP spends there money is up to them. If you buy online and they don’t fit, you can always send them back.

Buy the bigger size OP. I am either 45 or 46 in shoes depending on the make. Last cycle shoes I bought I needed the 46.

Remember that your feet will swell up a bit on a ride, so if you’re between sizes, go bigger.

I live in Lichfield and find the branch of Run and Ride there very helpful. I see they have a branch in Stafford. Some of their prices are a little higher than Wiggle etc, but they will normally try thier best to match if they can. https://www.runandride.co.uk/

I'm an 11 in normal shoes and wear a size 47 in Shimano, not surprised a 45 didn't fit!

Thanks that the advice I wanted, not all these angry people, i am looking at Shimano. I don't live in stafford btw.

Yes there is a local cycle shop but nothing less than 70 quid, and my budget is up to 40. I could go to specialized, etc but like i said would rather save money getting online as I have just started road cycling.

Oh and supporting you local bike shop, mine is pretty crap, my last bike I took in for a service they piled other bikes on top of it, scratching it and left the headset bolt loose.

if you don't live in Stafford, do you have a branch of Decathlon nearby? They stock the 'basic' Shimano shoes plus their own brand shoes, and have all the sizes on the shelf to try, at online equivalent prices.

Shimano do tend to be narrow compared to other brands so if your feet are wide you may struggle to get a decent fit. I know there’s a limited budget but North Wave and Specialized are more sensibly sized when it comes to width and there are some sales on at the mo.

£45 here....

I take size 10 and have Shimano RP1s (Decathlon) in a 46 but I have wide feet.

Sports Direct sometimes have cycle shoes at a reasonable price.

Try Chain Reaction, order all the sizes, all the styles, all the colours you might want.... try them all on, decide which you do want and then return the rest foc.

I found my old Shimano road shoes when I moved house in May. I was shocked to see how much longer they were than my current Bontrager shoes. Despite the discrepancy in shoe length, both still fit comfortably. I seem to remember getting the Shimano shoes at a discount when I bought my first modern road bike and clip-in pedals, and that I'd had to "go up a few sizes" to fit my wide toes into the shoes. So yes, I'd say it definitely pays to try a few different sizes before buying a pair.

As for Decathlon? I have a pair of MTB shoes with SPD cleats from them. Pretty basic ones, cheap as chips compared to "big brands", and very good shoes too. Although I now wear those only on my "gravel" bike, and have stayed with flat pedals on my MTB after switching away from SPDs when I was rehabilitating my ankle after a serious leg break...

Its a good time to be buying as everyone is selling off their summer / 2018 stock. Shameless 'look what I've just bought post', but I just got these from Cycle Surgery for £99. They are in the sales at numerous other places (Evans, Wiggle, CRC, Tredz) for £140+. RRP is £200. Merlin Cycles emailed me yesterday with some good shoes on sale too.

I am a 10 in all shoes and 45 Shimano is always spot on, so you're quite right.
