High intensity rear light recommendations?
Discussion
Wouldn't say it's necessarily best in class, but I use https://road.cc/content/review/177762-knog-blinder... and it's pretty DAMN bright.
Scorpion QR has 3x LEDs at 122 lumens (each I assume) plus a (technically illegal) green one at 491 lumens:

When I did some reading around there were some complaints about build quality, and poor customer service though
I bought a Bontrager Flare RT (2) and it's pretty good, but not the brightest you can buy (90 lumens total). If you link it to a computer then it does change flash pattern when braking though, if that's of interest, and you get battery levels, auto-on etc.

I use a Moon Nebula to keep me safe on the ultradistance stuff, in all conditions, in places where drivers aren't always expecting to find cyclists. The day flash mode is 180 lumens on the pulses and still bright enough in between pulses. It's great for daytime running but also not as harsh if you want to run it at night. Charges quickly and lasts around 14-15 hours in that mode. Cracking bit of kit for £35.
That's what I use but I'd also be happy to run Exposure lights.

TT weenies swear by it - ultra bright and great for daytime use - you can use it without the green light if you are worried about being legal, or use it with for max visibility.

I have one of these. It is v bright and the shape also makes it more visible than the 'point' type leds. Well made too - shame that the battery life is pants.
The Exposure Blaze is expensive, a fair bit more than the TraceR they sell too, but the battery is absolutely brilliant. The Reakt technology is very good too.
I show people the light and they say “wow, that’s bright”. Then I press the button and it switches to the second dimmest mode and people are like ‘holy st’. The top two settings are proper retina crispers.
FWIW I’ve found the battery life to be really impressive on mine. Still going strong (15h burn time against quoted 13h) after 18 months. But I don’t commute and have probably used it <40 times. Perhaps they don’t cope so well with a higher number of battery cycles?

I think some rear lights are genuinely too bright. It's not just outright lumens though, it's the beam pattern. Some rear lights just seem to shine purely backwards, so have no side visibility at all. The Blaze I use is rated at 80 lumens and I genuinely see absolutely no point in anything brighter, it can be seen in broad daylight and at night it's properly bright. But yes, as above, cheaper options are available!!
I bought the Moon Nebula on the link above for £20 as it's so well recommended.
1, It arrived this morning.
2, It's well made and definite value at £20.
3, There are various light modes, sure to satisfy most folk.
4, I'm posting just before midnight because I can actually see again. Holy F**K, you could use this thing to guide in aircraft.
