Simple question for you lot, im on old fashioned brakes ( not discs) why are my brakes squealing?

Clean the rims and pads. Check everything is tight. If that doesn't solve it adjust the angle the pads contact (toe them in slightly). That normally sorts it.

As above... clean rims and pads.

In simple terms..... Put an old bank card or similar thickness item at the rear of the pad. Hold brakes, loosen pad then retighten. You Tube etc will have vids to demonstrate.

Usually that adjustment sorts it out.

This is presuming you’ve the right pads on also.. as in carbon / manufacturer recommended pads on carbon rims and not standard ones. (If carbon rims).

Decent quality pads might also make a difference on metal rims.

Check that the pads are ‘toed in’ that is to say that the front of the brake pads are angled in towards the rim.
