Have been away from bikes for a while now, too many years than i care to mention really, but wanting to get back into a bit of trail riding and for fitness reasons also

Have been looking and decided on a couple from Cube, but not sure on the specs and vaule for money between old model from 2018 and new 2019 model

First one at 750 looks good to me

But new model is quite a bit more, but remodeled frame etc

Is the extra expense worth it for the new model? Other than frame, are the shocks, brakes etc all much better? Sorry but im out of touch with what is good equipment as standard these days

Personally, for what i will use it, weekends on light trails with daughter and occasional road use, i think the 2018 model suits me for the money, unless the new model really is worth pushing the budget to have much better specs if they are so???

Hi, i'd advise setting a budget in your head first. For example the two bikes posted are in different leagues in terms of specification. Although the £750 bike will be very competent i'm sure, the £1900 one has pretty high end components. So it depends how keen you are, also remember top end forks will need more regular servicing than lower end stuff.

For your intended use, the first one for sure.

The first bike is very good value.
The second is carbon frame but that’s about it.
I would say that it would be very difficult to tell the difference out on the trail both will perform

Thanks, reaffirming what i originally thought really

As for budget, i was around 5-600 initially, then it crept to 7-800 and i am thinking that would be fine for what i will use it for, i could use the interest free finance for 1K or over but just dont think i would get the full use of a bike at that value.

The carbon frame does interest me, but if your saying i wont see a difference much then i will stick with the initial choice on the 2018 model

Good choice.
I have a carbon Cube MTB and I love it, but I didn’t really go looking for it.
I’ve been riding MTB since the 80s and moved on with all the developments but I think carbon v’s aluminium not the biggest improvement, gears and brakes make the biggest difference.
Tempted to get one of those bike but I don’t think I could justify it.
