I have a 2017 Allez, pretty much the base model so Claris groupset and Axis Sport wheels etc. It's reasonably heavily used, and I've worn the wheels out. The rims are worn, and the rear hub bearings started clicking today, so rather than repair I'm going to replace.

Any advice or tips on options? Budget circa £250 probably.

LBS mentioned a Shimano rim which I can't remember the model number, I've seen Vision Team 35s which look quite cool, but not really sure.

I was always of the opinion that more expensive wheels were a waste of money.

Thne I changed my Alex rims for a set of mavic ksyrium elite.

Not the most expensive or the cheapest, but they abolsutley trasnformed my winter bike (cannondale alu synapse).

It's almost a pleasure to ride now (except its a winter bike so its usually cold and horrible when I'm on it)

Kysrium Elites are brilliant wheels.

I'd be looking for a set of lightly used wheels rather than new ones. You'll get far more for your money.

I put a pair of Mavic Cosmics on my 2014 allez (standard ones not carbon), and it made a big difference.

Campag Scirroco C17 are a good bet at under £250, make sure they are the wider C17 version though.

You could even scrap a set of eBay carbons for that money or just slightly more with duty added, sellers like CSC are reputable.

Needed it sorted as soon as possible, so ended up getting a set of these on 24 hour delivery. Fitted and took them for a shakedown run this afternoon - very positive first impressions!

Roughly how many KMs would you expect to get out of a set of wheels like this? Mine are probably on the way out in the next few months and I want to buy something with longevity.
