Marin Hawk Hill

I’ve got a 2017 version. I love it. If 2017 is relevant, what do you want to know?
I’m more of a roadie than a mountain biker but it seems to do all things well. I bought an XL (6,2”) because I wanted space in the cockpit. I don’t regret the decision but I suppose it does mean the bike is better at going down than up.
I’m really not into tech for tech’s sake but I do all my own maintenance. Well set up it shifts well (1x10), brakes well and the suspension works. Nothing’s broken on it, but I ride sympathetically and I look after it.
I read a lot of reviews before I bought it and concluded I couldn’t do better at the price (£1000 on C2W at the time). Competition was Calibre Bossnut mainly. I think there some 2016 Scotts GTs in the mix too but my brand bias was creeping in and availability was limited.

Might not be a lot of help, but I saw a few reviews for the 2018 Marin and there was a head to head with the Bossnut (on Youtube somewhere I think) and they were rated pretty similarly. As the Bossnut was so highly rated in reviews and about £200 less (there was an offer at the time), I got the Bossnut and it's ideal for me. The Marin was probably the closest alternative.

Thanks Griffter. Similar to you. Much more of a roadie these days with a few trips to MTB parks a year. My old (very) Scott Genius was great in its day but fancy something more modern that doesn't break the bank
