It looks like a great event, 2500 (crazy people) and passes all to yourselves, plus lots of cake. Whats not to love! ;-)

If you're not riding for charity then I think its a lottery system now, its so popular.

Pace...pace...pace. Don’t go mental in the first half or you’ll suffer. Properly refuel along the route and not just at the feeds but don’t hang around too long else your legs will start to stiffen.

Say hi the crowds and use their cheers to get you over the tops.

Be cautious on ALL of the descents. Saving a minute by going ballistic won’t help when the paramedic is strapping you to a spinal board.

It’s my third time.

So if course I’ll go off too fast and suffer in the last 40 miles biggrin

The crowds do help you up the hills, especially on Whitlatter and Hard Knot.

I know awesome cyclists who've suffered terribly up hardknot, I'm not that keen that I want to do that.

Ditchling beacon was enough for me

Been intrigued by this event since seeing Oliver Bridgewoods film about it last year. Looks spectacular and a genuine challenge to finish. Don’t think I’m strong enough at the moment- 2 young kids mean I haven’t got the time to get the long rides in- but hoping to do it in a few years time. Huge respect to anyone attempting it!

First of my friends just dropped out. He is carrying a cold and Kirkstone Pass killed him, no way he was going to get up Hardknott.

Shame, he is a strong cyclist and rode Hardknott and Wrynose last weekend. Staying 100% healthy just another factor of the FW.

??? It's a brilliant event, if you get dry conditions possibly as good as anything in the world. I did it in 2016 and loved it;if it wasn't a 600 mile round trip and 2 nights in hotels, I'd do it again. I don't think I have paid for a bike ride since, nothing else seems worth it now

7hr 23 chip time. I only stopped at Calder Bridge. I was flying till Hard Knot, getting PBs up all the other hills. I decided to walk HK as last time I rode it and then crapped all the way to the finish. This time I was pulling hard all the way from Wrynose to Grasmere. In hindsight, I feel bad for not putting a bit more effort into HK. Maybe next year.....

Great day, great volunteers and it’s so good to be cheered along by the spectators.
