Has anyone spotted Operation Close Pass by the police? It looked like a great initiative, but has it stopped now?

If only there were more police officers to do this stuff, but police resources seem incredibly stretched.

Yeah because having your wallet snatched is much worse than being killed by a poorly driven vehicle.

In your case I’ll take the risk. Stop writing rubbish and wasting everyone’s time.

Valid opinion when they're dealing with hurt feelings on Facebook.
Stupid opinion when they're trying to stop idiots knocking people off bikes.

Here's a suggestion, think about my posts like you think about red lights. I.e. ignore them.

Oh really. I can't think of anything more ridiculous and bigger waste of resources than the police policing a non-event. How many people get knocked over daily, and how many die? Compare that with how many pedestrians get killed by cars. It almost sounds like there's a massive epidemic and people are dying like flies because someone didn't give them 1.5 metre "safe space" when the fact is that you're more likely to get killed walking, yet I don't see major outrage about this on twitter. As a non-millennial I feel embarrassed being a cyclist, the entitlement is frankly ridiculous. Memememememe, look at me I'm so important, I'm part of mother earth's ecosystem. Please protect memememe.

Given some dhead thought it was acceptable to pass between me on my bike and a traffic island, the police clearly do need to hammer the point home.

I was very nearly off and it would have been messy.

Irony being, I was on the way to pick up my car from the garage, not attend a lentil knitting seminar, jump a red light or the local Momentum meeting.

If passing another road user with 2 foot to spare is acceptable, then get the bus.

Hard to knows where to start with this.

First a question.

Did your missus run off with a cyclist ?

Also, Twitter isn’t really the real world.

She/he/it gave you 2 feet of space and you almost fell off? Oh dear. Maybe cycling isn't your thing, did you consider this?

As far as I know, she's not interested in what you'd consider "a cyclist" - i.e. beta males, especially those who wear tight lycra yet find 2 feet of space not enough to cycle through.

The more you post, the more you reveal yourself as a bit of a tool with your strange opinions.

Police try to do something useful to stop people being killed.

Bullitt gets all angry and worries about real crime...

I am not exactly sure where the real issue is, but if you aren’t comfortable being seen in tight Lycra you could always put a rolled up pairs of socks down there and pretend.

It takes one to know one.

Of course, it's not nice that people die, but that wasn't the point. Police work with limited resources so I'd rather they deal with st that makes a difference on a wider scale, like penalising crime and sending a strong message to scum who seem to be free to do whatever the fk they want in this country than virtue signal by penalising for virtual crimes that have minimal impact on the society as a whole. It's funny how for example you demand special squadrons that will make sure that cyclists get enough space, as per highway code, yet no seems to mind the fact that no fker, especially in London, seems to know or care about highway code rule 170.

So you don't want people like this getting three points then?

In the Venn diagram above I'd say this person scores a solid bullseye. This is the sort of person Operation Close Pass will be dealing with. I can't understand why, as a road user of any persuasion, you wouldn't think this was a good thing.

(And in case you were tempted to reply that this was just some whinging wobbler getting YouTube clicks, check his palmares first...)

Oh I'd love to see this get banned for life, but not because of a close call on cyclist but because in general you can see from his earlier behaviour that he's mentally unstable and shouldn't be allowed to drive.

But I also can't help but notice that there's literally no reason for the cyclist not to be closer to the kerb (not that it's an excuse for the BMwker).

What triggered you so much? Me suggesting that traffic laws also apply to cyclists?
