I want to buy a new road bike with the new SRAM Force Axs 12 speed group-set. So far I cannot find anything that comes close to this Canyon in terms of value for money.

The only think I would need to change is the cassette as I want lower gears, but even with the £150-170 cost of a new 10-33 cassette the bike is still way cheaper than anything the local large bike shop have suggested (Specialized Tarmac Disc 2019 at £6000).

Is there anything else I should consider?

That Specialized will be available at half price next year if you shop around (or buy last years model). Canyon are very good value, I've had a few.

I’ve had mine with the Campag 12 speed since last September and I can’t get over how good it is irrespective of price.
Go for it you won’t regret it. smile

CF SLX for 4 years now.

Still an awesome bike.

Canyon prices have crept in this time but still great value.

Not sure I would buy any freshly released SRAM equipped bike. IME, they are usually some of the first to have the prices reduced come the end of the season. This is purely because they are less popular than their Shimano equipped siblings.

This isn't a slur on SRAM kit. I recon their downshifts are amazing and I have a SRAM Force equipped Giant defy hanging up in the garage.

If and when Boardman puts that groupset on it's range, then I expect it will be close in terms of price on a new bike

The SLR 9.8 disc is a touch more money just now with SRAM red etap 11 speed. At £4499 it doesn't look bad value really https://www.boardmanbikes.com/gb_en/products/2264-...

It seems keenly priced, the Canyon near equivalent https://www.canyon.com/en-gb/outlet/road-bikes/ult... is £5,049 to the Boardman's £4,499

But back to the OP's original question

There is a Bianchi at about £4200

For me the Canyon would be the better buy

Thanks for the extra suggestions - I did have a look at the Boardman website - that one and the new one (which has di2) have comparable spec to the Canyon.

I think the Bianchi is let down by the wheels... Hoping to order the Canyon this week. biggrin

I know it's not the new 12 speed AXS, but there are some good offers on Cannondales with 11 speed eTAP (probably due to the launch of AXS)

Supersix Evo for £3499

Synapse for £3499

Had mine for 10 months now, absolutely love it. Just took it around the Isle of Wight and treated it to some new tyres (Conti GP 5000s), as the Mavic Powerlinks it came with are garbage, puncture resistance of a soap bubble.

The SRAM groupset is lighter than the Ultegra that the 2018 model came with, and the wheels are too so the 2019 model is quite a chunk lighter overall. Mine is a 3XL and weighs 8.0 kg, which is irrelevant really when the rider weighs 92 kg!

I don’t think anything comes close for value, when buying a new bike at full price. I spent 5 years looking at bikes before deciding on the Ultimate. No regrets.

Buy it!

I have a CF SL 8.0 disc and it's been flawless. By far the best bike for the money I could have found at the time.

I cannot recommend them enough.

The only problem I can find with Canyon is the delivery time - I want the bike for a holiday at the end of July and they are now saying it will third week of June...

I have read some horror stories about poor customer service and bikes arriving 3 months late... I am going to order it but I'll cancel if it hasn't shipped by the beginning of July.

I had a Canyon about 6-7 years ago, and there was no problem with timescales/ deliveries.

However, I ordered a Grail AL back in March, and knew it would be early June when it was delivered; then an e-mail about 3-4 weeks saying mid July. Lo and behold, another e-mail today saying early August.......
