What kit or components do you find you always end up buying? Whether because you like the look, the way it works, or its just great value for money.

I tend to run my mtb on Shimano XT drivetrain as it does the job for me, and lasts well. I've also run Shimano Zee brakes for the past two years, and will be buying them again. Used to use Sram X9 but had a problem getting a replacement rear mech a few years ago, changed to XT and not gone back.

I've ridden Yetis for the last 13-14 years and its been suggested that a supposed high-end bike should have only high-end kit - XTR or XX, carbon kit wherever possible. My response has always been that I can't tell the difference in performance, and the weight savings have always been equivalent to one less pie.

Seatpost and stem have always been Thomson Elite, and bars, up until recently were always RaceFace Next Carbon. However, a recent switch to some decent aluminium bars and my inability to tell the difference, will mean I'll get alu again.

Forks, except for one brief period on a set of Revelations, have always been Fox Factory or equivalent - fit and forget stuff that does a great job.

My only experience with recent road stuff is the 105 groupset on my gravel bike. The way it works and lasts means that it'll probably get replaced like-for-like, and reading around it seems that recent 105 is about as good as it needs to be for the majority of us.

So, what's out there that you'll keep running on your bike? Road, mtb, other...

The good old Charge Spoon. Had one on road bikes, MTBs, EMTB and gravel bike. It just seems to fit me perfectly, cheap as chips, not significantly heavier than more expensive alternatives and come in a decent range of colours. It’s pretty much the first thing I purchase for a new bike every time.

All my bikes have Charge Spoon saddles, except for a couple of ‘80s drop bar racers that have period saddles fitted.

All my drop bar bikes have 105, all my MTBs have mainly XT.

Hubs are either Hope, or the better quality Novatec.

Everything else is a free for all...

Couple of my go to items:

Vittoria Corsa or Veloflex tyres.

Deda finishing kit; bars, stem, post. I like the bar shape and the stems and post are always good value.

Skratch labs drink powder, like the taste and no I’ll effects.

I'm generally pretty good to go with whatever, but I like finishing kit to match - so my Felt (came with a 3T cockpit) gained a 3T TT cockpit.

Conti GP tyres (4000 / 5000 / TT) - after trying schwable and vittoria in various guises, I'll stick with GP's

Garmin computer / pedals etc because I'm bought into the ecosystem and I just don't like the wahoo headunits (and Look pedals by virtue of having lookc leats on the garmin pedals)

Ultegra / DA because I like the ergonomics of the shifters but I wouldn't turn a bike awaay because it was SRAM or Campag

Always Oakley for glasses

Rapha clothing

KMC chains because colour coordination

Exposure for lights

Flat White mid-ride coffee

Shimano - never had a bike with anything else. Mountain bike has LX, Roadie has 105 and TT has Ultegra DI2.

Garmin - Piss and moan about the hassle of uploading stuff but still stick with them now I am in the eco-system.

Shimano shoes. Not the most fancy but they fit me just right and last for years. Have tried others but always come back to Shimano.

All my bikes have Campag Chorus or Veloce.

Have worn S-Works shoes for years.

Conti clinchers, Veloflex tubs.

Castelli jackets.

Think that's about it in terms of stuff I don't budge from.

Suggest another thread - kit and components you would never buy again - with the entire Garmin catalogue automatically added to it.

I like dmr v6 pedals they cost about £15 so can replace when ever needed, don't look taty with scratches as plastic but work just as well as more expensive dmr metal pedals. (have on both my bikes).

Good topic! For me it’s probably...

- Vittoria Corsa tyres (Control, normal Corsa and Corsa Speeds depending on the bike)
- Oakley sunglasses (particularly Jawbreakers)
- ISM saddles (on all my bikes now)
