Anyone else following this years race? 700km and 16000m in eights days of racing centred on Cape Town. I’ve got a couple of mates in it in the Masters category, and am still gutted at having passed over an invite to the inaugural 2004 event due to total lack of cash. Doh!
I’m also following Jaco van Gass with his teammate Stuart Croxford. As team KT18, Jaco and Stuart are aiming to be, I think, the first disabled team to complete the Cape Epic, each having less than four full limbs from injuries during tours of Afghanistan.
The website’s showing a live feed of all stages, Stage 3 today, Www.cape-epic.com - would still like to have a go one day...

Yeah Im following it on Instagram. I think schurter and his plus 1 will win the mens section quite easily unless someone steals their bikes. There were a few words between him and a Brazilian competitor but even the Brazilian afterwards said it was an overreaction. I’m also following Jaco van Gass with his teammate Stuart Croxford. Best of luck to your mates on it though.
There is live coverage on YouTube - great stuff. All change today after Lars Forster punctured, and it couldn't be repaired; he & Nino had to wait for their 'back up' team for help. Dropped quite a bit of time - so now Cannondale team of Avancini & Fumic have taken the lead.
In the women's it will take a disaster for Langvad & van der Breggen not to win; totally dominant.
