I have an 810 and never experienced issues quite like that. I have found that a regular purge of my rides saved on the Garmin device seems to make everything work a little quicker and more smoothly though.

Very occasionally I've had to reboot my garmin after a ride before it uploads, but that's normally just to force a reconnect to my iphone via bluetooth.

I had connection issues with my 820. I contacted Garmin and here’s the fix they suggested. Might be worth a go?

Kind of the same with the 1000. Mine was slow to upload rides (or didn't even bother to upload) then suddenly had an issue with locking on to GPS Sats. I purged all the rides and now it works fine.

I'm baffled how they can screw this feature up. My Fenix 3 must be the same vintage as an 810 and it uploads automatically everyday on multiple occasions.

My Garmin 520 often did the same, had to pair/unpair, re upload the ride etc., got tired of it.

Have now swapped to a Wahoo Bolt - It's much easier to setup, has better battery life, sensor pairing is easier, and I never have sensor dropout or disconnections. Ride upload happens every time without any hassle. Setting up the data pages is also much easier than a Garmin. Wouldn't go back

Good advice

Ive given up on Bluetooth with my 810
The functionality is/was great at first although as an early adopter I often felt like a beta tester
When it works its great, it just doesnt work most of the time these days

A pal has the Wahoo, its a dream in comparison

Cheers

Uploading your files from a garmin is often more painful and time consuming than the activity itself.

I have an 810 and 910XT watch. The 810 is fine most of the time, then randomly wont upload without turning it off and on again. Last week it wouldn't connect at all, I unpaired, then took me an hour to get the fker to pair again.

The 910 uses the PC dongle, that's a pile of st.

I have been a Garmin user for years but when it comes time to upgrade I will probably be looking elsewhere.

Similar experiences with my 810, I end up repairing once every few months. The device itself is fairly solid and I'm impressed with it (on and off road). The software seems to be very shonky.

As stated earlier in this thread, mine tends to have that exact behavior if my 810 has a lot of rides stored on it's memory, flushing it out seems to help this. Also just rebooting the Garmin and opening and closing the GC app seems to sort issues like this for me too.

Garmin are pretty shocking with connection/bluetooth/uploading activities, but as a device to use on the road, I can't really fault mine. Until the Wahoo Bolt gets a serious makeover (Christ it's ugly) and doesn't come in that mud grey colour and they fix their screen issues, i'll be sticking with the trusty but temperamental 810.
