Hi,
Looking for a new road bike. I'm just doing my due diligence by asking if there is anything else better out there based on my want's..
Bike will be for regular weekly dry spring/summer/autumn evening cycling, and weekend cycling. Regular 50-100m jaunts. Also for regular sportives, and later this year the Ride of Britain. Have a winter bike.
Wanting carbon.
Wanting something light.
Wanting something with a little aero.
Wanting some with disc/disk's.
Not bothered by DI2.
Needing 56cm/large.
Budget around 2.5k-3.5k (top number at a utter stretch).
Thinking the Tarmac SL6 comp disc 2019.

Avoid Specialized if you’re after value for money and also look for a 2018 model as 2019 will command a premium for no added benefit.
Have a look at Canyon or Rose, e.g.

For my money... Can vouch for impeccable quality and attention to detail on my Ultimate.
I'd also take an Ultimate over the Endurace, I've used mine for 100+ mile rides several times and never been uncomfortable.
I've also only ever seen one other Canyon when out riding.

If I was buying now, I'd be giving serious consideration to the Boardman SLR 9.2 Ultegra Disc..
They were only drip feeding certain sizes onto the market when I bought my 2018 BMC Roadmachine TWO 02 in Evans' sale, but it's a good spec £3-400 less than the main brands such as Cannondale, etc..

I would take a look at a Bianchi Aria or XR3 - both fit the bill and are in budget. CounterVail (in the XR3) - really does add an uncanny level of ride comfort.
I would suggest trying a bike with di2 before discounting it...it's quite a thing. Budget wise, you could account for that by moving from disc to direct mount rim brakes. You already have a winter bike so poor conditions are less of an issue. As explained to me by a pro last week 'direct mount is 40% better than centre mount, discs are only 20% better than direct mount - not worth it for the weight - they're really only a benefit in the wet'
I have a disc / di2 XR4, and a mechanical / rim Felt AR3 - both aero. Despite both being their respective manufacturers aero offerings, The two bikes are night and day to ride so I'd advise you to try before you buy!

Hi, reason for DI2 was primarily down to cost. I accepted that i would have to make a compromise somewhere based on my requirements. My thoughts were primarily, in a year's time, i could seek to upgrade the groupset, but having a bike which accepted discs is somewhat unique. However, your challenge is sound - will have a think.
Does it have to be a new one?
Quite a few used ones around that might fit the bill

These sort of sites are good if you're not set on a brand: - http://bikesy.co.uk/tag/road+bikes/
Lots of threads like this - do a search.
At this money, ride a few and buy the one that you can't stop thinking about - there probably isn't an objective "best" bike.
If you want to be convinced to buy the Tarmac, look at Lee's post on the "Show Off Your Bike" thread - his new S-Works Tarmac looks absolutely outrageous.

value for money the online boys will always come tops: canyon, rose, planet X etc.
Canyon has the nicest line up and prob the best service now.
Planet X are dragging their heels on a Aero Disc equipped road bikes. EC-130 looks awesome and I would buy it straight away if they made a disc version. Hopefully there is one coming. Canyon has the nicest line up and prob the best service now.
As others have said, I would go for a Canyon in that price range. Maybe a Giant Propel Disc and add the bits you want.
I would seriously consider pre owned
This is what I picked up recently
Been a great fan of the Cannondale Supersix, having owned my 105 for a number of years
Decided it was time to get a summer special, so the above is the Evo Hi-Mod with full Dura Ace and Vision Metron 55 Clincher wheelset, everything is carbon so weights in a tad over 6Kg

This is the answer. Wait until you ache for one in particular so bad and then just get that. I wanted that tarmac like nothing else, and when the first frame arrived damaged and I had to send it back I was wondering what else I could get if it wasnt replaced. Nothing filled that void for me, so luckily it got replaced quickly. At this money, ride a few and buy the one that you can't stop thinking about - there probably isn't an objective "best" bike.

It wasnt the best financial choice, but Ive bought a bike before based on it being value and just kept longing for one of my alternatives.

as someone else said, everyone will champion their own bike so here goes.
Giant Advanced Propel SL 2( in my case)
Awesome bike, looks great rides fast, an actually more comfortable than my "comfortable" Trek Domane
I also have a Propel, still love it, still miss riding it when I haven't been on if for a few days. I Everested on it 3 months after buying it, so I don't think comfort is an issue - 27 hours of riding would suggest not! This has led me to conclude that for most of us, the stuff about geometry and sportive v race bikes is just marketing speak, to get people to splash out again on a marginally different bike that will do the same job. I know I can barely tell the difference between 23 and 25 mm tyres, a degree of slope here or there...Giant Advanced Propel SL 2( in my case)

I only spent £1600, but felt I had to try as many bikes as fit my spec/wishes as I could. I was leaning towards the online offerings (there's another German brand as well as Canyon/Rose, plus you could look at Dolan/Merlin as well, to name just two more) but it's almost impossible to get a proper ride on them. And with Cycle to Work scheme my Propel was as good value as the online bikes.
The answer for me was Evans Cycles. They stock a range of manufacturers, their warehouse is at Gatwick half an hour away, so I booked a few rides and went along to try them on real roads. You have to leave a deposit and your contact details, and if you go to a shop rather than the warehouse they may have to bring it in for you in the next day or two, but no other shop had anything comparable. Lots of LBS have demo bikes but they are usually in the £2.5k bracket and it would be like test driving a 40k car when you only have 2.5k to spend. All this testing showed me the Cannondale Super Six was a lovely bike, but to me didn't have the overall appeal as the Propel - and yes, I included colour and look in that - and the Fuji equivalent to the Propel was noticeably harsher than the Propel on our roads.
Having said all that, for your budget, I would want a titanium frame...
