I saw the title and we about to say "last time I did it, I managed to get Business Class for less than Economy once baggage costs were included", but I don't suppose that helps much, sorry! smile

Apart from the last couple of days, it seems like a ride through lots of countryside that most people drive through with their bikes on the way to the interesting stuff in the Alps... And nearly 2 grand sounds pretty expensive !

Looks like 9 overnights + food + support (I'd expect) + flight back to the UK + bike transported back to the UK and then add some profit for the organisers.

And if you hit 3.3k in sponsorship, then all you have to pay is 199 sheets for the registration - if I understood it correctly. If the OP can do that, then it looks like a pretty good deal.

That's exactly what I'm doing.

The 3rd day will be through the Somme and WWI battlefields and memorials, a place I haven't been to since doing History O-level over 30 years ago.

I appreciate some may view it as a free holiday, but my intention is to raise more than the 3.3k

It looks good.

From what I read about the preparation, it would seem that the cycle fitness goal is to do 2 days back to back of being in the saddle for 6 - 7 hours and an average cadence of 90-ish.

Whether it's a seen as a free holiday or not, you're putting in your own time and no doubt are probably booking time off work etc. So there is a cost of sorts. And besides, who cares what others think (including what I think lol).
