I’ve just had an email from the organisers of this event to tell me it’s being changed to open road. FFS, no thanks. They give you the choice of a transfer to open road with a partial refund, a transfer to the ToC with no refund, or cancel with a full refund, so I cancelled.

Is this the Norwich century one in June? Interesting if so. After failing in the PRL ballot, I tried to sign for this instead. The one thing missing off the site was a link to book your place. This was last week. I emailed them and they said that they’d stopped taking bookings but would reopen in a couple of weeks and they’d email me back a reminder when open.

As I just wanted to be sure of getting on something, I just booked ToC instead. They were offering £20 off or something. So I’m getting the sense they are struggling to fill these events.

Note the ToC sportive and the UCI qualifier seemingly set off at exactly the same time so not sure what that’s about.

The Norwich Sportive and the ToC were at the same time. The Norwich one has now been changed to open roads ( Sportive not pro race ) The organisers of the Norwich one have given anyone already entered the choice of a partial refund and ride it as open road, cancel for a full refund, or transfer to the ToC for free. I’ve cancelled.

So have I. If I just wanted to do a long ride there are any number of those much nearer home. Closed roads was the key difference and if it isn't closed roads I'm out!
