Yes, interesting.

I look forward to seeing what this means for both companies’ products moving forward.

Shame
Tacx have an incredible customer service. Garmin's is non existent.

Can see why they've done it. They are losing market to wahoo with the bolt so why not take some of the trainer market instead

It would be interesting to see how it goes from being an owner/MD led company to something very corporate. I bought a Flux, which failed very quickly (it seems they all do!) and then got a Neo and it's really nice, and seems from a technological/engineering perspective way ahead of all the others (although the squishy pedal feel won't be to all tastes).

I read an article a while ago about how Tacx works, and it seems they are very traditional in that they do almost all the manufacturing themselves - R&D, CAD, injection moulding of all parts and even machining the moulds onsite.

I have had a Garmin 800 for over five years. Fantastic bit of kit and as of yet I have yet to see a reason to change to any of the newer designs. I see others complaining about their units and from my perspective, I never have anything to complain about.

I bought a used Fenix 3 from Amazon in Feb of last year. Apart from being a bit chunky, its a great bit of kit. Lasts several days and has just enough Smart weatch features foor it to be useable. Lasts five days on a single charge too.

We also have a Garmin dash mount SatNav. Several years old and still works fine.

I almost expect Garmin to acquire more companies in the bicycle space, as based on my experience, their devices seem to last pretty well and that sometimes mean people aren't quick to upgrade when the latest models come out.
