Using the above I’m encountering problems and not for the first time. First unit went slightly opaque and fine lines appeared across the screen the new one the same. The heart rate monitor also doesn’t start until probably 10 minutes into the ride, the same as the first one. I’ve tried gel on the back of the strap across my chest and initially it started to work but again now as the first one it’s becoming temperamental.
So this isn’t the first unit I’ve had and to be fair to the manufacturer they replaced the whole lot without question last time, which is great but to have the same problem with a second unit I’m wondering if they’re not all that good.
Any thoughts?

Thanks Steve

I've had no problems with mine at all

I have however had problems with HRMs with both it and my previous garmin as they get affected I think by the sweat

Changed for a Wahoo one and so far it's been fine

I’ve had no issues with mine connected to a cheap heart rate monitor (TAOPE Smart Cardio), been working perfectly for the past two months.

Just replaced the strap on my wahoo hrm. Button where is connects to the electronic gibbons had corroded from sweat most likely. Had started to drop out every so often and this was most likely cause.

Usually put a light splash of water on chest before putting hrm on and this seems to sort out the occasional issue of it not working from very start of ride.

In terms of the bolt unit. Faultless since using for around 1.5yrs now.

Thanks for the responses! Just an update on this, I have started applying ultrasound gel on my chest and it's very much done the trick and all seem to be working well. I have been advised to do this on this forum previously but for some unknown reason I applied the gel to the back of the HRM instead of onto my chest, doh!
The monitor still has fine lines on it but to be honest I'll live with that.

Thanks again.
