Zwift workouts
Discussion
Individul workouts are all well and good, but for maximum benefit it is better to follow some sort of structured plan
Zwift has some good ones these days

My favourite is:
Lionel Sanders Intervals

But also enjoy:
SST (Med)

High Intensity Recovery

Random Lengths
https://whatsonzwift.com/workouts/gcn/power-climbs...
Typically do 2 per week, then easier Z1/2 all other times.

Been trying a few different ones.
The Gorby was tough but doable, tried the Wringer on Monday, totally ruined me, couldn't finish it -maybe I was tired after work but it seemed insane!!!
What workouts does everyone else like/worth doing??
Thanks
"The Wringer" was horrible - I was very tempted to give up just over half way through but I managed to rough it out...The Gorby was tough but doable, tried the Wringer on Monday, totally ruined me, couldn't finish it -maybe I was tired after work but it seemed insane!!!

I started doing the "Build Me Up" training plan at the beginning of the year and tonight's workout is "The Purple unicorn" - 1h 45m so I am really not looking forward to it.

I still remember that one as one of the hardest ones I've done on zwift.. enjoy!I started doing the "Build Me Up" training plan at the beginning of the year and tonight's workout is "The Purple unicorn" - 1h 45m so I am really not looking forward to it.
Then again I've just restarted the build me up plan as it has shown some improvements

Would be good if there were a way of pausing these schedules if you’re struggling to recover. I see a thread on the feedback page proposing this (with a lot of others supporting this) and its being looked into.
Was tempted to just try an FTP test now then call it quits.

How can you have a session called "High Intensity Recovery"? Surely you're either recovering or doing something at high intensity? Lionel Sanders Intervals

I'm in week 2 of the 8 week Grand Fondo programme. Some are tougher than others but I haven't done anything particularly miserable yet. I like the way the workouts are targeted towards "ride at race pace then break then make it stick then back to race pace" type riding.
I do need to sort my FTP though - I keep boosting the workouts to 110% and I'm still finding parts of them a lot easier than the messages on the screen would suggest. Even when I did one the same day as the Alp stage on TdZ.
I do find the structure and ERG really helpful - I've never done structured training on the bike before. I'm already finding that exactly as the workouts, it's helping my ability to kick near the top of a climb and then recover more quickly. Quite possibly a mental thing as well.
I'll look forward to trying more (probably an FTP builder for a nice helping of Wattage Pie).
Only concern - as mentioned earlier by someone else - I'm going away for 5 days before I finish this programme. This means I'll definitely miss one, and I'll have to do a lot of making up the day I get back.

Agreed. The name is misleading. it's a tough sessions, very similar to a 2x20min @ FTP, never feels like a recovery to me.Gassing Station | Pedal Powered | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
