Does anyone have a Wahoo Element Bolt GPS, If so how many routes can be saved on the device itself? I have one myself but cant seem to find this info anywhere.

Also does the device have full world maps pre-installed?. Only ever used mine in the UK.

I have one but can't really answer your question. I have though had it for a couple of years now and must have loaded around 100 routes on it, all with turn by turn directions.

The GPS files are normally quite small so I reckon you could get more than you would ever need on it.

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated.

I arrange bike tours overseas, currently have a considerable number of GPX route files saved on a hard drive for use on Garmins.

I love my bolt, just wondering how viable it would be to switch to these. Don't want to have to rewrite all the routes to ride with GPS or Komoot etc.

My limited experience of importing .gpx files produced by others into my Bolt:-

1. You can do it directly through the Wahoo phone app. Email the gpx file to yourself, open it in your phone, then save the attachment to the Wahoo/Element app. Then when you next sync your Elemnt/Bolt device that route should appear.

2. What I found easier was to set up a Komoot account, pay the one off fee (EUR20 or so) for access to maps outside your immediate area; you can then import the gpx files into Komoot from your pc/laptop as new routes, with turn-by-turn instructions, which Komoot adds. Then again, when you next sync your device the new route should pop up at the top of the recent list.

Generally I don't like Komoot for route planning (I prefer RWGPS free account) but 2. allows more control, especially if you have several routes to transfer to the device, as there appears not to be a Wahoo app for the pc!

RWGPS (and Strava?) I think have a similar option to turn gpx files into routes, but only for an ongoing 'premium' fee, iirc
