A lot better idea than the Peloton bike which is a miracle of marketing sold to folk who lap up celebrity endorsements, magazine advertorials and forget due diligence before buying into a £2k trainer locked into a £500 per annum subscription , or have I missed something?!

I don't think you missed anything, no, although I think the sort of people who buy it are sold on the package as a whole rather than wanting a bike with an open interface they can use with anything. I imagine if a friend asks "Oh are you on Zwift?" they'll not be bothered that they can't use it because they already have "their" workout system.

This review of Peleton is quite detailed: https://www.theverge.com/2017/4/25/15408338/bike-p...

I just got a regular Neo (after my Flux packed up after 300km) and it's very impressive. The resistance does feel slightly different (being 100% electronic) but I really like it.
