A funny thing happened yesterday... my Ultegra crank arm (drive side) sheared off completely! Fortunately I didnt come off the bike, but it could have been a real mess, being in London traffic at the time! I wish I could say that I push 3000 watts, but that's not the case, so it's a clear failure of the part.

The bike is a Boardman SLR 9.4 and is under 2 years old, so it should be a warranty job; although the bike shop (cycle republic) say it will be 3 weeks at least to get an answer AND they can't store the bike... so I'll need to take it home. This wouldn't be a huge issue, but home is miles away from the bike shop and I obviously can't ride it! They wont lend me a crank, or even (it seems) do me a cheap deal to buy one!

All in all it seems like a pretty dangerous failure and is looking like fairly crap after sales support! Anything I can do?

My experience of Shimano warranty has been positive, replaced some XTR pedals within a week. It could vary massively depending on the shops relationship with Madison.

This might be worth a look too https://weightweenies.starbike.com/forum/viewtopic...

bloody death trap if so. I cant imagine how it would have gone if I'd have been out of the seat.

I called boardman earlier who have sorted me an exchange... so hopefully back on the road soon.
