Hi Folks,

I was wondering if anyone could give me some guidance, my rear Monarch RT3 is being repaired under warranty by SRAM so I am unable to get out on my bike.

I have been looking at second hand rear shocks to tide me over and one has came up that could be suitable.

My shock is a 230 x 65 mm metric one but the one that I have been offered is a 230 x 60 mm one, will I be able to use this or will it feck up the geometry on the bike?

Cheers

P-Jay

I'd reckon you'd be okay.

The eye to eye length is the same so the bike will have the same geo, well almost, you will be effectively shortening the travel of the bike by 8% (I think) if you run 25% sag it will be sitting a little higher in the travel, but I doubt you'd notice it, I'm sure you could tune it to feel pretty much the same bar the relative performance of the shock and the theoretical maximum performance of the suspension.

Another thing to consider if you haven't already is that if you gave your shock to SRAM with the mounting hardware, it's very unlikely the second-hand shock will fit as-is, you'll probably need a new mounting kit.
