Cheeky Dealer Sticker replacement
Discussion
Hi All
So I took my Trek CX bike in for a service and a brake upgrade last week and got it back on friday. The bike itself is a over 2 1/2 years old at this stage. It was bought in a shop about 100km away near where I work.
The guy who did is a new shop also selling Trek but beside our house and is proving a good mechanic judging by what he has done work wise on my bikes to date and also i think its good to give business to the newbie to help him get established.
However One thing stuck me when i was having a look around the bike this morning before bringing it for a spin. He took off the old dealer/sellers stickers on the bike with their name/website etc and replaced them with four stickers his own. This is despite the fact that he did'nt sell the bike etc. Does anyone think this a bit cheeky?? I mean he didnt sell the bike, just serviced and upgraded it. Is he allowed do this?? I don't really care in the visual sense, his stickers look fine and he hasnt done it on any of the other bikes (all non Trek) we've given him to fix. Maybe he checked the bike on the system via serial or barcode, saw there was no dealership attached to the frame and took it as his own?? (which is probably fair enough...)
What do others think??

Adding a sticker would be cheeky, removing anything existing is taking liberties - it could be (for example) that the existing dealer sticker is a well-known and trustworthy company and better to have on the bike.
Years ago my father had his car serviced and they replaced the old but "tidy" number plates with their own branded plates which had a horrible red border. I said he should complain, but he wasn't bothered.

I detest this form of advertising - the same as car dealers stickers on the rear window or dealer details on the reg plate.
However, for a commissioned service agent to remove stickers and replace with their own is another level of shiftiness (<-- I'll leave the autocorrect in place there).
