Good winter commuting tyres?
Discussion
Most of the cycling websites recommend all the usual suspects; GP4 Season, Gatorskins, Schwalbe G One Speed, Michelin Endurance, Marathons, etc
I've used them and they've all been okay, however, were I ride, the rural roads quickly become muddy thanks to tractors dragging muck onto the roads. I thought a narrow knobbly tyre would be ideal, but wasn't aware of any available.
However, the Panaracer GravelKing SK is perfect, and comes in sizes from 26mm to about 40mm....I've got a 26mm set on my Domane SL5 and a wider set on my CX bike.

Ive commuted through the depths of winter for years, rural route so take in gravel old railway, A roads, B roads, country lanes, singletrack etc
TBH most tyres and bikes are a liability in snow and ice, you just have to go slow and take as smooth a line as possible, still treacherous, last January one road near me had black ice on it every day until February!
As for tyres, I just buy cheap, so if I get any issues I can just bin the tyre and start fresh
These have been great in 28 or 32:

These have done well as well:

The trouble I fine is that once it gets really cold, rubber just gets harder so you have less suppleness and less grip, guess then the only answer is knoblies which would slow me down too much on the flat
At least st slippery tyres teach you to up your bike handling skills and to go careful!
