My position has been the same on both my bikes for many '000s of miles and '00s of hours riding, it's given me very little in the way of niggles and I can easily cover 100+ mile rides with no discomfort.

I replaced my pedals in July for the same brand (Time) whilst retaining the original cleats, they felt a little 'tighter' but broadly the same as before.

For various reasons I didn't ride a bike again for 6 wks until hiring a BMC in Tenerife, I used my own pedals and existing measurements as I've done previously with no issues.

I experienced quite few small niggles (wrist, elbow, knee) but put it down to small differences in bike setup.

Returning home and getting on my own bike the sensations are just the same, lots of little niggles and a feeling that the bike is 'alien' to me.

From what I can tell nothing has changed, the most obvious sensation is that my right shoe is twisting my ankle outwards but looking at my shoe the cleat hasn't moved (I always perm mark under them).

At a loss really.

What, other than changing pedals - which could be the cause, happened in the 6 weeks you were off the bike?

Could the 'tighter' cleats be due to the new pedals not releasing as easily?

Is this something you are aware of and perhaps you're compensating by tensing up.

If one area is then uncomfortable, you may then be shifting the issue to other areas causing a number of issues.

Can you refit you old pedals and see if there is a difference?

I know when I run and have a niggle like a sore knee I often over compensate and also get sore elsewhere.

Nothing that I can think of.

I'm not sure those 6 weeks are enough for my cycling muscles to seize up fully!

It probably is worth swapping back to the old pedals and seeing if the slightly odd sensation in my right foot remains.
