Mountain biking in Innsbruck - Tips?
Discussion
I’ve got 7 days with a (hardtail) bike in Innsbruck this week.
I’m not the strongest cyclist in the world, but have some determination.
To avoid having to do very small trips, I wondered if anyone can give me tips for:
- Where to go
- Best ways to get public transport to a location and then ride back (or vice versa)
I’m comfortable riding up to 50 miles a day, which I know isn’t much, but no chance I’ll do more, especially in the mountains.
I’m more in to scenery than downhill blasts (doesn’t particularly interest me).
Suggestions?

I've just done similar in Obersalzberg but used our electric MTBs. Look online for cycle routes where you are going - there will be LOADS, as well as set out routes. The Obersalberg tourist people also sent me a load of maps in the mail - I suspect the Austrians will do the same.
I'd also suggest chucking your bike in the bin and getting an electric one - the steep climbs won't be such a chore when you are in an advanced state of refreshment, as several pints of beer can take its toll
