First off, I know I could spend a LOT of money on a helmet.

I'm looking for one with better strap arrangements than the twisty noisy ones on entry level kit, and also where the comfort pads do a proper job.

Currently using a cheap Giro, want something that is nicer to use, and preferably quiet.

There's only one way to buy a helmet, go to the shop and buy the one that fits best.

Try on loads and then buy the most comfortable one..... my personal choice is the Giro Atmos.

What fits me may not fit you but I tried on loads and loads and the comfiest by a long way for me was the Kask Mojito, chin strap is very comfortable and the rear cradle has lots of adjustability.

Finding a decent size stock in a LBS is a difficult task here in the sticks. So, I'm happy to try mail order and return stuff that's unsuitable.

What I'm interested in is helmets with better strap and pad arrangements than the basic stuff. I'll try the Kask, it's get good reviews as well.

Highly recommend the Kask, had one for a couple of years, although not cheap, think your head is worth it.

The combination of the ratchet at the back and chin strap hold the helmet securely without being too tight and uncomfortable.

You only have one head chap.

I have a Kask Mojito & the top Boardman one,

I do prefer the Kask one ,

Planet X hanger been selling their Carnac range very cheap recently. I got an aero road helmet for £30. They ain't the best looking mind.

Also look out for Specialzed doing their trade in. They take old helmets in exchange for money off their new ones. The top of the range ones go quick though.

Thanks JPJPJP and Lubframatt thumbup

That looks like important info: I like the star ratings.

Also, it’s interesting to see that higher priced helmets weren’t necessarily safer. E.g. the Giro Foray (£45) was better than the similar looking Giro Synthe (£175).

Thanks to both, great help.
